The town of Alberton is located in the East Rand of Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. It is a town steeped in history and its suburb and street names show this, the street names in the Alberton North suburb were named after the Voortrekker heroes. The town also celebrated its 100 year anniversary in 2005.
Alberton has a dry, mild and sunny climate for most of the year, with winter being the sunniest time of the year. The town has seen snowfall from time to time through the years, with the most recent snowfall in 2007.
